Recycling Centers

Residents may use the depositories four times per month. To ensure service, residents should arrive 30 minutes before closing and no later than 15 minutes before closing.

  • Westpark Center

  • Reuse Warehouse
    9003 N. Main Houston, TX 77022
    Tuesday - Saturday: 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

General Rules

  1. Residents may use the facilities up to four (4) times per month (once per week).
  2. No loitering on the property.
  3. No alcohol or drugs allowed. Violators may be asked to leave and reported to the appropriate authorities.
  4. No profanity or inappropriate language.
  5. No salvaging or scavenging of materials.
  6. Residents who are disruptive to staff or other residents will be asked to leave.

PROOF OF ADDRESS REQUIREMENTS

To drop off bulk waste or tree waste, residents must show:

  • A current Texas-issued ID (Driver’s License, DPS ID, LTC, or Consulate ID)
  • A current City of Houston utility bill or lease agreement
    NOTE: The address on both documents must match.

For residents whose primary home is outside Texas, a current property tax bill is required (name must match the ID).

For recycling only: A current Texas-issued ID is sufficient.

Accepted Materials

  • Paper – newspaper, office paper, junk mail, envelopes, magazines, and postcards.
  • Cardboard – please ensure boxes are clean of any food and empty of all packing materials (e.g., Styrofoam, plastic air bags, plastic wrap, Kraft paper).
  • Cartons – both aseptic and gable-top cartons such as juice cartons, soup cartons, and milk cartons.
  • Metal Cans – metal cans, aluminum cans, bottles, soup cans, vegetable cans, fruit cans, and pet food cans.
  • Glass – bottles and jars (clear, green, and brown). Please ensure bottles and jars are empty, and lids have been removed.
  • Plastic – #1-5 and #7, that are emptied and rinsed. Examples include soda bottles, milk jugs, detergent bottles, yogurt cups, and margarine tubs. (Not bagged)
  • Scrap Metal
  • Electronics - computers, TVs, household electronics.
  • Tires – residents may bring up to 5 (five) tires without rims.
  • B.O.P.A. – batteries, Oil, Latex Paint and Antifreeze.

Heavy Trash and Garbage are not accepted at these facilities. Please visit one of the Residential Drop-Off Centers to properly dispose of these materials, or refer to your Junk Waste collection schedule for curbside service.


Non-accepted items

  • Hazardous materials: Chemicals, oil, fuel, etc.
  • Bulk items/furniture: Sheds, storage bins, pools, etc.
  • Rubber materials: tubes, water hoses, rubber gloves
  • Hazardous materials: Chemicals, oil, fuel, etc.
  • Extension cords
  • Wiring/string lights
  • CD’s or CD cases
  • Bubble Wrap (hard plastic packaging)
  • Flowerpots
  • Household Hazardous Waste (HHW) Chemicals
  • Oil Based Paint
  • Plastic Soda Rings/Wrappers
  • Plastic Coat Hangers
  • Plastic furniture
  • Pizza Boxes
  • Junk Waste
  • Toys
  • Trash/Garbage
  • Tree Waste
  • Videotapes
  • NO large plastic items such as toys, garden tools, or furniture.
  • NO flexible plastic of any kind including plastic bags, shrink wrap, tarps, snack bags.
