Solid Waste Management Department (SWMD)
Holiday Collection Schedule for
Juneteenth, and Independence Day

Houston – In observance of the City of Houston’s approved holiday schedule, curbside collection services will be affected, and all Solid Waste Management facilities will be closed on the following upcoming holidays:

  • Juneteenth Day- Thursday, June 19, 2025
  • Independence Day - Friday, July 4, 2025
Please review the chart below for changes to the residential collection schedule for each holiday week:

Juneteenth Day

Thursday, June 19

  • Thursday no collection services. Facilities are closed.
  • Thursday curbside garbage collection is rescheduled to Friday. All other service lines -recycling, yard waste and heavy trash will be collected on your next regularly scheduled collection day.
  • Friday curbside garbage collections is rescheduled to Saturday. All Facilities will re-open.
  • All collections services resume normal operations on Monday, June 23, 2025.

Independence Day

Friday, July 4

  • Friday no collection services. Facilities are closed.
  • Friday curbside garbage collection is rescheduled to Saturday. All other service lines -recycling, yard waste and heavy trash will be collected on your next regularly scheduled collection day.
  • All collections services resume normal operations on Monday, July 7, 2025.
