Juneteenth and Independence Day Schedule

 

HOUSTON — The City of Houston Solid Waste Management Department (SWMD) announces its operating schedule for the upcoming Juneteenth and Independence Day holidays.

In observance of Juneteenth, there will be no curbside collection on Friday, June 19, 2026. Routes normally serviced that day will be collected on Saturday. All SWMD facilities and administrative offices will be closed on Friday and will reopen on Saturday for normal Saturday hours.

For Independence Day, curbside collections will be serviced on Friday, July 3, 2026. Facilities will operate regular hours of operation, and administrative offices will be closed. On Saturday, July 4, 2026, all facilities will be closed.

Juneteenth Day


Friday, June 19, 2026
  • No curbside collection. Friday customers set carts out Saturday.
  • All SWMD facilities and administrative offices will be closed.
Saturday, June 20, 2026 (Juneteenth Holiday)
  • Friday collections serviced.
  • All facilities are reopened, including Residential Drop-Off Centers, Environmental Service Center, Westpark Recycling Center, and Reuse Warehouse.

Independence Day


Friday, July 3
  • Curbside collection serviced as scheduled. Friday customers set carts out Friday.
  • All SWMD facilities will operate regular hours of operation.
  • Administrative offices will be closed.
Saturday, July 4, 2026 (Independence Day)
  • All facilities are closed, including Residential Drop-Off Centers, Environmental Service Center, Westpark Recycling Center, and Reuse Warehouse.
