Youth Meal Programs
Houston Parks and Recreation Department is committed to reducing child hunger by providing access to free, nutritious meals to children and teens, 18 years of age and under. Each year, we partner with community sites across Houston to ensure youth in eligible areas have a safe place to receive meals during the summer months and after school throughout the school year.
About the Program
Meals are offered year-round through the Summer Food Service Program (SFSP) and the Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP) After-School Meal Program. These programs are made possible through federally funded grants from the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA).
All meals meet or exceed USDA nutrition requirements and include healthy options such as lean proteins, whole grains, fruits, vegetables, and milk.
Meal Programs Offered
Summer Food Service Program (SFSP)
During the summer months, the Summer Food Service Program provides free breakfast and lunch, Monday through Friday, at participating sites.

During the school year, the After-School Meal Program provides a free supper and snack, Monday through Friday, typically between 3:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m., at participating sites.
