Temporary Placement of Art in City of Houston Properties
The City of Houston has regulations, procedures, and permit requirements in place for artwork to be displayed on City of Houston property, which includes places like parks, health centers, police or fire stations, libraries, and community centers. This refers to any type of artwork that can be installed permanently, such as murals, sculptures, art displays, and commemoratives. For any permanent artwork, the approval of Houston's City Council is required.
For temporary artwork, the City Department Directors may authorize Temporary Art Permits. To apply for a permit, the application must be received at least 40 consecutive days before the date of installation.
