Families with Pride 2025
Join Council Member Kamin and the Greater Houston LGBTQ+ Chamber of Commerce for their annual Families with Pride festival, celebraitng LGBTQ+ History Month!

Houston families are invited to celebrate and play at the fourth-annual Families with Pride festival, returning to Discovery Green® on Saturday, October 18, 9am-12pm with more fun activities, and more ways to connect than ever before.
Created by Council Member Abbie Kamin in partnership with the Greater Houston LGBTQ+ Chamber of Commerce, the Mayor’s Office of Special Events, and Discovery Green®, the event provides a safe, joyful space for LGBTQIA+ families and allies to come together in the heart of downtown Houston.
This year’s event packs in brand-new activations designed to entertain every age group:
- Kids Costume Party with prizes from Michael’s Cookie Jar
- Proud Puppy Paw-ty & Costume Contest (11:00 a.m.)
- Pride Storytime (9:30 a.m.)
- Special performances by the Pride Band
- Arts & crafts, face painting, magicians, balloon & bubble artists, stilt walkers, jugglers, and a live DJ
Families can enjoy Discovery Green’s playgrounds and water fountains, as well as interactive booths featuring community partners including Hi Red Bird (with live animals and reptiles), the Houston Parks Department (free plant giveaways), The Montrose Center, Equality Texas, Legacy Community Health, Grace Place, Tony’s Place, Out for Education, and the Banner Project's collaboration with University of Houston and Rice University featuring the “History of Pride.”
Picture-perfect photo-ops include giant LOVE and HOU letters, a rainbow balloon arch, and an oversized puppy installation. Local food trucks and vendors will be onsite with plenty of snacks and treats.
