*Capstar (nitenpyram) is a fast-acting, oral, over-the-counter medication that kills adult fleas on dogs and cats within 30 minutes to a few hours, but it is not a long-term flea preventative. It only lasts for 24–48 hours, making it ideal for immediate, temporary relief of an infestation rather than continuous protection. Recommendation: Should be used in combination with a monthly, long-lasting flea control product.

Schedule a Wellness Appointment
Wellness Clinic
Schedule a general wellness visit for your pet at BARC’s Wellness Center. These appointments are for first-time visits and annual care, including core vaccinations, rabies vaccines, heartworm testing, microchipping, flea and heartworm prevention, and other routine preventative services.
Medication Refill
If your pet is an established Wellness Center client, you may be eligible to schedule a convenient pick-up appointment for flea or heartworm prevention without bringing your pet in. Restrictions apply, and both your pet and account must meet eligibility requirements.

Foster Clinic
These appointments are reserved exclusively for pets currently in BARC foster care. We are unable to provide services for fosters from other organizations. Foster Clinic appointments are for routine, non-emergency care and are available by appointment only.
