September 14, 2026 - Houston police are awaiting autopsy results in the death of a male found at 5720 Rampart Street about 3:25 p.m. on September 12.

The identity and cause of death of the male, 46, is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.  

HPD Homicide Division Detectives J. Smith and V. Villarreal reported:

Officers responded to a report of a person down near an apartment complex entrance at the above address and located an unresponsive male. Houston Fire Department paramedics pronounced the male deceased at the scene. The male's body had no obvious signs of trauma.

Preliminary information indicates a witness observed the male's body being removed from a vehicle near the apartment complex entrance before the vehicle fled the location at a high rate of speed. 

The investigation is pending the male's cause of death, to be determined by autopsy.
