September 11, 2026 - Charges have been filed against a suspect wanted in the fatal shooting of a man found at 9301 Dairy View Lane about 11:35 p.m. on Oct. 22, 2023.

The suspect, Alexander Funes-Vasquez, 31, is charged with murder in the 488th Criminal District Court. A photo of Funes-Vasquez, who is not in custody, is attached to this news release. 

The victim is identified as Edward Josue Valladarez-Vargas, 21.

HPD Homicide Division Sergeant J. Brooks and Detective C. Flora reported:

Officers responded to a person down call at the apartment complex at the above address and found the victim unresponsive, lying near some bushes.  He had suffered at least one gunshot wound and was pronounced deceased by responding Houston Fire Department paramedics.

Further investigation identified the suspect as Alexander Funes-Vasquez. Detectives consulted the Harris County District Attorney’s Office and Funes-Vasquez was subsequently charged. At this time, he remains at-large.
