January 05, 2026 - Houston police are investigating the fatal shooting of an individual at 2824 Hillcroft Avenue about 10:20 a.m. on Friday (Jan. 2).

The identity of the deceased individual is pending notification to family members by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

HPD Homicide Division Detectives J. Caten and K. Stringer reported:

HPD patrol officers responded to a person down call at the above address and located a person with a gunshot wound inside the building. Responding Houston Fire Department paramedics pronounced the individual deceased at the scene.

At this time, there is no known suspect or motive. The investigation is ongoing.
