Investigation into Fatal Shooting Incident at 1408 Main Street

February 23, 2026 - Houston police are investigating the fatal shooting of a male suspect by Metro Police Department officers at 1408 Main Street about 8:55 a.m. on Sunday (February 22).

The identity of the male, 45, is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

HPD Homicide Division Special Investigations Unit Detectives Detectives M. Childs and K. Vu reported:

A female approached a Metro bus driver and informed him that her boyfriend had pointed a gun at her and taken off on foot. Metro Police Department Officers were then dispatched to 1900 Main Street to a call about a suspicious person with a weapon. Metro PD Officers were able to locate the male a few blocks down the street at 1408 Main Street.

As officers were trying to speak to the male, he reached from inside his waistband and pulled out a firearm. Two Metro PD officers discharged their duty weapons, striking the suspect. The suspect was transported to an area hospital where doctors pronounced him deceased.

No officers were injured.

As is customary when any law enforcement agency officer discharges a weapon in the city limits, the incident is being investigated by the HPD Special Investigations Unit.
