April 17, 2026 - Houston police are investigating the fatal crash that occurred at 6600 South Freeway (South State Highway 288) about 7:45 p.m.on Thursday (April 16).

The identity of the deceased male, 20, is pending notification to family members by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

HPD Vehicular Crime Division Sergeant D. Griffiths and Officer V. Taylor reported:

The operator of a green and black Yamaha motorcycle was traveling northbound on Highway 288 in the express lane at West Holcombe. As the operator was traveling on the lane, which is a flyover, he failed to maintain a single lane and struck the wall. The impact caused the male to land in the northbound lanes approximately 20 feet below.

Responding Houston Fire Department paramedics pronounced him deceased at the scene.

There were no other persons or vehicles involved in the crash.

The investigation is continuing.
