April 13, 2026 - Houston police are investigating the fatal auto-pedestrian crash in the 1000 block of Leeland Street about 6:45 p.m. on April 10.

The identity of the deceased male is pending notification to family members by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant J. Wu and Officer D. Jones reported:

A black Chevrolet Silverado was southbound on Fannin Street and turned left on Leeland. The vehicle struck a pedestrian who was in the crosswalk. Houston Fire Department paramedics pronounced the pedestrian deceased at the scene.

The female driver of the Chevrolet, 57, determined to not be impaired and was questioned and released.

The investigation is continuing.
