August 14, 2025 - Houston police are investigating the fatal shooting of a woman at 8102 West Tidwell Road about 8:55 p.m. on Monday (June 23).

Demarcus Jamal Coleman, 30, is charged with murder in the 228th State District Court. A photo of Coleman is attached to this news release.

The victim is identified as Darcie Roland, 43.

HPD Homicide Division Detectives P. Michon and J. Robles reported:

HPD patrol officers responded to a shooting at the above address and found a female with a gunshot wound in the parking lot of a business. Responding Houston Fire Department paramedics pronounced the female deceased at the scene.

Preliminary investigation determined the suspect vehicle to be a gray or silver Chevrolet SUV.

Further investigation identified the suspect vehicle and the owner as Coleman. On July 7 Coleman was stopped for a traffic violation and he attempted to flee on foot. He was then arrested and charged with evading arrest. After further investigation into the death of Ms. Roland, the Harris County District Attorney's Office accepted charges of murder on Coleman, and while he remained in the custody of the Harris County jail, he was charged with murder on Wednesday (July 13).
