Suspects Arrested, Charged in Incident at 6200 Lyons Avenue
April 14, 2025 - Charges have been filed against three suspects arrested in an incident in which an HPD officer discharged a duty weapon at robbery suspects at 6200 Lyons Avenue about 11:50 p.m. on April 10.
One suspect, Ronny Leonardo Hernandez (driver), 18, is charged with aggravated assault of a public servant in the 209th State District Court. Two other suspects, Cristian Rolando Gutierrez Bonilla, 19, and Victor Jesus Rauda Lopez, 20, are charged with criminal trespass in Harris County Criminal Courts #3 and #5, respectively. Booking photos of all three suspects are attached to this news release.
No one was injured. Officer O. Martin, who discharged his duty weapon, was sworn in as an officer in June 2024 and is assigned to the Northeast Patrol Division.
HPD Special Investigations Unit Sergeant E. Wohlgemuth and Detective J. Windham reported:
HPD patrol officers were searching for a vehicle stolen in an aggravated robbery minutes earlier and located the vehicle in a parking lot at the above address. Several marked HPD patrol vehicles responded to the scene and attempted to conduct a traffic stop. As officers gave verbal commands for the suspects to exit the vehicle, the driver moved the vehicle directly toward the patrol vehicles and the officers standing outside their patrol vehicle. Officer Martin was directly in the path of the oncoming vehicle with nowhere to move. Fearing he was about to be struck by the vehicle, Officer Martin discharged his duty weapon at the vehicle, but did not strike the suspects. The vehicle narrowly missed hitting Officer Martin and fled the scene at a high rate of speed.
Officers initiated a vehicle pursuit of the suspect vehicle until it became disabled in the 7600 block of Wallisville Road due to tire damage. Three adult male suspects inside the vehicle, identified as Hernandez, Gutierrez Bonilla and Rauda Lopez were arrested without further incident and charged for their roles. Officers recovered three firearms, one in the vehicle and two others thrown from the vehicle during the pursuit.
As is customary in HPD officer-involved shooting incidents in the Houston city limits, this case is being investigated by the HPD Special Investigations Unit and the Internal Affairs Division. The investigation into the aggravated robbery will be conducted by the HPD Robbery Division.
