Youth Engagement and Leadership Opportunities
The Mayor's Office of Education and Youth Engagement (MOEYE) focuses on engaging youth in meaningful conversations that prioritize the inclusion of their voices in the city's initiatives. The goal is to foster youth engagement throughout the city to ensure the rights of every child are fully recognized and integrated into the fabric of our government policies, budgets, programs, and services.
The MOEYE works in partnership with youth, educators, and community partners to create and host civic and leadership programs that amplify youth voice and uplift children's rights. These programs also connect Houston's youth and families to valuable resources, professional development, life skills, and mentoring from city and community leaders and field experts.
Youth engagement and leadership opportunities in local government are crucial to develop Houston's future leaders, empower young individuals to contribute to decision-making processes, and promote diversity and inclusivity in policy-making.
By engaging with their local government, young people gain hands-on experience and develop critical thinking, problem-solving, and communication skills.
